First of all, thanks to all of you. I appear to be fine--no post-crunch owies or aches yet, and all the good wishes have been very heartening. Further, everyone I talked to at the insurance company was kind and sympathetic, and they pay for a replacement car while ours is being fixed. Last night we ate spaghetti and watched The Music Man. This morning I fetched the rental car (a PT Cruiser! Very cool).

Meanwhile, Emily hurt her paw yesterday, so she's got an appointment with the vet at 1:30. Life goes on. What shall I have for lunch?

As if the car trauma wasn't enough, we went to the vet this afternoon, and Emily has broken her toe, poor wight. She did it at the dog park yesterday--heaven knows how. So now the poor object is all splinted up and has two medicines to take--one is a doggie-NSAID, the other is doggie-Valium, in case she gets anxious or panicky about being pretty-much home bound all day. They gave her a sedative in order to set the foot, and thought she'd sleep most of the day. HAH! They know not my hound, who was up, about, and falling over herself to leave the vet's by the time she was brought out to the waiting room. "That dog has some metabolism," the vet said, with admiration.

I particularly liked the fact that the pharmacist, who filled the scrip for the Valium-like substance, put on the paperwork "Emily the Dog Robins." My puppy has a paper trail!
