The Thespian Branches Out
5/12/06 08:08Because the whole school (or at least the whole faculty) knows of Sarcasm Girl's career aspirations (go directly into the theatre, do not pass go, do not, alas, collect $200), when the 12th grade English class started doing a special unit on playwriting with a consultant from the Magic Theatre here in SF, SG's art teacher arranged for her to swap out of art into the English class for the playwriting segment only. Part of the allure was that ten kids' ten-page plays would be performed in a staged reading at the Magic Theatre. ETA: Oh, yeah. I forgot to say: her play is one of them (of course, of course). The performance is Monday; she'll spend all day at the theatre, working with the director and actors. I get to see the performance that evening.
