$5 Bags

I am, for my sins, the Wrangler for Boxtops for Education at YG's school. This is not quite the "This Fundraiser Manages Itself" thing that the copy insists: you have to collect all the boxtops and send them in, in groups of fifty, and since the damned things are of various sizes, and since they all have expiration dates on them, this is much more work intensive than one would like to think.

In any case, this morning I counted and bagged 1900 boxtops, at fifty per baggie, all ready to send off as soon as I can remember where I put the Transmittal Forms. Each baggie-of-fifty is, theoretically at least, worth $5. So I'm sittin' there with all these nickle bags, remembering the days when that phrase meant something entirely other. And of course I couldn't explain to YG why I was snickering...
