The Spouse used to be a recording engineer; he is now a product manager at a company that makes Pro Tools, (for lack of a better high-concept definition) sound-processing hardware and software, and very good he is at it, too.
Last night Younger Girl demanded to be taught how to use Pro Tools so that she could splice some songs together. My husband more or less glowed with pleasure at having one of his kids interested in this stuff, and suffered any amount of subsequent interruptions to the movie we were watching, so that the kid could be helped out of technical problems. She was delighted with herself, he was delighted with her, and I was delighted with them both. Even the dog was happy.
