Just stole away for an hour to see Julie Phillips read (with interpolations) from her new biography, James Tiptree, Jr.: The Double Life of Alice B. Sheldon. Wow. Must read.

I'm in ramp-up-for-Worldcon mode, which includes shopping, cooking, making lists and schedules for the better running of the household, hemming my new pants, and, always, walking the E-dog. And tonight I sewed eight participation patches onto YG's Girl Scout vest and (since we've run out of space on the back now, and the front is sacred to actual project badges) making a shawl to sew more patches onto. She should be getting a bunch of badges from her camps fairly soon. Joy.
Meanwhile, this morning Emily was watching the sewing with a curious eye. When I put down my scissors, she delicately took them up in her mouth and trotted off with them. I'll be damned: Runs with Scissors.
