Sarcasm Girl's Mock Trial team won the county finals! Great screams of joy and excitement (via cell phone, delivered direct to my overwhelmed ears). They get to go to the state trials at some unspecified time in the future. There is much rejoicing, and a hole in her schedule now. Of course it will be filled: SG auditioned for a part in a revue of Cole Porter songs (I do love it when the young are dragged through the classics; SG, of course, already knows a good deal of Porter, although she told me once that she doesn't like him quite as well as Sondheim. So my child).

I am getting over this cold (I hope. I think). It's the first time in ages that I have had a classic use-half-a-box-of-Kleenex(tm) cold, and if I could wait another decade before the next one that would be okay by me.

Sunday, YG and I picked up 384 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies--and still managed to come up a box short of the cookies needed to fill our orders. Sigh. Today she's going to distribute the lion's share of the things: taking our old shopping cart and bundles we made up the other day of All The Cookies In The World, and tromping round Spouse's office. In uniform, of course. Yesterday afternoon she put on her most businesslike voice and called all her customers at Spouse's office to remind them that tomorrow was cookie delivery day and they should be prepared to fork over payment. "I sound like a frickin' Barbie!" she moaned, but several co-workers called Spouse to tell him how impressed they were by her delivery. On Sunday we have the first of four booths, standing out in the elements hawking cookies to all comers. At this rate, the girl will own the Girl Scouts. She has also, because of her ice skating mania, decided to only eat healthy food, and therefore I must make her lunch to take to school every morning (the school lunches are not what one would term healthy, although I don't think they list ketchup as a vegetable any more). So this morning I dutifully made her a healthy lunch, which she carefully forgot to bring with her.

[livejournal.com profile] klages is visiting. Yay! We are drinking coffee and reading blogs and email at our separate laptops. And in honor, we have had a series of thunderstorms moving overhead. An hour ago there was lightning and thunder so close overhead that YG was threatening not to go to school. Now the sun is out.. Bay Area weather much?
