Vonda N. McIntyre

Vonda died yesterday. She was one of my favorite writers, a smart, complex, generous person; I always had a sense of "huh, Vonda McIntyre knows who I am," but that was me being star-struck, not Vonda being a star. She was a pivotal member of Book View Cafe, and she will be missed by all of us. She finished her last book a week or so before her death, so she left one last gift.

I am sad.

Yes, all those things, though I mostly knew her through a mailing list rather than in person.

I am eager to read her last book, but I kind of want to save it for a little while...it feels like that would be less painful.

Yeah, I've been depressed about it since last night. I was thinking of my ebooks that she made so generously and so well.
