All That Hard Work Ain't Been in Vain Fer Nuthin

We have been deep into college applications here: Becca has sent in applications to eight of the 13 schools she wants to apply to, and is polishing the supplemental essays for the last six (the "personal statement" essay she's been working on since last summer; the "a thing you should know about why my grades slumped" essay since October, and they're both great--these are the 250-word "why I want to attend your fine institution of higher learning).  While Bec works on this, Danny and I have been working on the FAFSA and the CSS (these are the deeply time-consuming electronic forms for financial aid, for which I doubt we will qualify, but if you don't play you stand a sure 0% of winning).  Much panic on Tuesday night when I realized that the FAFSA I had filled out was for this calendar year, rather than for the upcoming one, but I refiled the correct one.  Now all we have to do is FINISH OUR TAXES BEFORE THE END OF JANUARY (hah.  Some documents routinely don't show up until March!) and send them in to the schools.  Oy.

Yesterday the kid got her first acceptance, from Manhattan Marymount.  It is one of her backup schools, but the relaxation of tension--somehow she was convinced that she would not get in anywhere--is perceptible.

And the angels rejoice.
