Avocado comes in while I'm channel hopping. Somehow we wind up watching fifteen or so minutes of Independence Day. "What's this about?" she asks.
"It's about a plucky band of humans fighting back against mean aliens who want to kill all humanity and take over the Earth," I say.
"Uh huh. Do they do it?"
"Yup. Wanna know how?"
She nods, so I tell her: "They infect the alien invasion fleet with a computer virus, using a Mac laptop."
Avocado says nothing, but her eyebrow rises up so far into her hairline that it makes her face look lopsided.
"Yeah," I say. "About like that."
She leaves the room, shaking her head.
