Why I Love My Kid #627
So tonight, Sarcasm Girl was at a friend's house, helping to babysit friend's little sister, doing homework, and (of course) being a teenager. I'm sure she had a great time. YG spent most of the evening in my room watching the Disney Channel New Years' Eve marathon and emerging occasionally to demand more food. At midnight SG calls home while I'm in the process of pouring champagne and Martinelli's Sparkling Apple Cider. I pick up the phone and hear: "What does this song mean? All my life I wondered..." Billy Crystal's monologue from the end of When Harry Met Sally, the song in question being "Auld Lang Syne." Love and congratulations fly, she hangs up, the rest of us drink our bubbly beverages. Then she calls back, outraged: "They're not playing the song! They're playing "New York, New York!" Don't they have any sense of tradition? Pfui!" And hangs up.
Such an odd child.
Happy New Year, all...
