Elizabeth Bear's writing and mine are very different, but I find her philosophy and rules for writing are very similar to mine.
There's no right way to do it. You just have to do it. And keep doing it. And then do some more. Sometimes you get to wonder if you wouldn't be happier polishing the floor, but you do it anyway.
