Fanfare!
For about eight, nine years I've been part of a list-serve for women writing science fiction and fantasy. Sometime last spring someone asked a dangerous question: what if we got together to offer our work on line, some for free, some for pay. Might include out of print work, might be new stuff, might be stuff we're experimenting with. Quicker than boiled asparagus, we had a roster of smart writers involved, including Vonda McIntyre, Ursula K. LeGuin, Brenda Clough, Maya Kaathryn Bohnhoff, Laura Anne Gilman, Susan Wright, Phyllis Irene Radford, Jennifer Stevenson, and a host of others. Including me.
Book View Cafe went live late on Saturday night. It's still not perfect--there are some formatting issues and stuff--but it's a great place to pick up a little something to read, find a writer you've never read before, and see what's new and wonderful--or revisit old favorites. And right now, for our opening week, the content is free.
Go, look! Go! You know you want to...
