My Daughter Wears Combat Boots!

Okay, she did wind up wearing heels. But this is Sarcasm Girl just before her friend/date showed up for Prom. She had her makeup done at Sephora, her hair done at a salon down the street (the stress of these two events, mostly taken out on my nervous system, will perhaps be posted later), and came home to zip into the dress and choose a necklace. I found a vintage black velvet opera jacket of mine for her to wear (there's a lot of flesh on view there, and it gets chilly in SF at night), and then her date was here and flowers were pinned/snapped onto the wrist, and then I drove 'em up to Benihana, where they were having their pre-Prom dinner (Prom includes food, but apparently they don't trust the Hyatt to provide anything edible).

As she and Rick went off, arm in arm, to eat showy teppanyaki, I felt a little odd. Proud, and overwhelmingly delighted by the delight on the girl's face. And just a little bereft: there she goes, having her own damned life. Good on her. Hope she comes home with stories.
