Pillar, Post, Pillar Again

Yesterday was not a writing day, yesterday was an Accomplishment of Other Sorts Day. Rose up, got Avocado off to school and Sarcasm Girl downstairs to greet the day, then went off with [livejournal.com profile] klages to:

1) rent a van
2) empty her basement of many many boxes and bits of pflug
3) drive to dump and release pflug and boxes into the wild
4) drive to Ikea in Palo Alto
5) buy a box spring and rolling file drawer for Avocado, a desk chair for me, and various small stuff (a wine rack!), and buy CD shelves and other small stuff for Ellen.
6) drive back to San Francisco, drop off my Ikea stuff
7) drop Ellen's purchases off, pick up her car
8) drop off van
9) get dropped off to pick up my car in Daly City.

By the time we had done all that, it was 6:15, and I had to drive into the Sunset district to pick up Avocado and take her to Scouts (feeding her quickly on the way). When we got to Scouts (7:09) it became obvious that we'd missed a message somewhere: the meeting was elsewhere. At which point all interested parties (that would be me and Avocado) decided to go home.

This morning I drove the child down to a friend's in Stanford; they're going to go kayaking in Monterey, then have a sleepover. I hit Costco on the way back, and am now contemplating a day to get other things done.

No rest for the Mama. How's your day?

Good Heavens

I'm quoted on the Viable Paradise web site. It sounds like me, and it certainly expresses my thoughts on the matter--I just don't remember having been that articulate. It's a little like coming across a paper you wrote in college and thinking "Hey, I wasn't as dumb as I thought."
