Life pt. 327
This morning I took Avocado to the orthodontist to get fitted for her braces, which will be installed in her mouth next week. This entailed an "orthodontic survey X-ray" (a panoramic X-ray...you sit still while the camera circles you like a bobcat looking for an opening) and then having molds taken. Then I whisked her off to school, went off to pick up some jackets that were being repaired in darkest Russian Hill. Then picked up the fabulous
khaybee and
danjite for a really fabulous pre-birthday lunch at Absinthe (French onion soup! carmelized Brussels sprouts! a really excellent Croque Monsieur! pomegranate sorbet with mango salsa, and a pot au chocolate--all shared between the three of us).
The dog, locked in durance vile until I got home, was torn between frantic joy, a frantic need to go out and pee, and a frantic dislike of rain. So after the worst of the plumbing issues had been addressed we came back in and I threw a tennis ball down the stairs for her until my arm hurt. Avocado, meanwhile, has had a tiff with friends and called up asking for hot chocolate and cuddles. So this is one of those days when not much is getting done, and yet it is.
